Programmes for Students (PfS)


Expressions of Interest for Programmes for Students (PfS) are now open and close 21 November 2023.

 

Programmes for Students are accelerative supports for ākonga in years 1-10 who would benefit from targeted support in literacy and/or mathematics. Participating kaiako are mentored by experts who support them to improve their practice through intensive upskilling in accelerative pedagogies and share their learning to embed these accelerative practices across the school.

 For 2024-2025 we are offering two programmes: 

 

Programmes for Students has been updated to align with current evidence and curriculum changes and has been extended from a one-year to a two-year programme.  

The Ministry of Education funds $4,000 per year for kaiako involved in the programme to have release time for planning, meetings, evaluation and to receive mentoring.

Mathsweek 2024

(2023) INFORMATION HERE

Maths Week is a major event that is held each year, having been first held in 1998. Sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the New Zealand Association of Mathematics Teachers, a number of resources are written and made available to teachers and students in Years 1 – 11.

The aims of Maths Week are:

Maths Week 2024 will be held between Monday 12 August and Friday 16 August.

Senior Mathematics Competition

Our Senior Mathematics Competition returns in 2023. This year, we are again running a one-off 90-minute competition on Thursday 10th August (during NZ Maths Week). This competition will be open to Individuals and Groups (up to 3). Recommended for Year 11 – 13 students, but open to any.

IASE Webinars

The International Association for Statistical Education presents our June webinar.  Leandro Souza, Universidade Federal de Uberlândia is presenting, and we welcome you all to join us.  We also ask you to share this invitation with high school statistics teachers and other statistics education networks in your country. We welcome IASE and non-IASE members to the session.

NZAMT18 National Mathematics and Statistics Conference


The Northland Mathematics and Statistics Teachers Association are pleased to announce that NZAMT18, the National Mathematics and Statistics Conference will be proceeding as planned in 2023 in Whangarei.

The dates of the conference are 3 - 5 October.
